Link between Milk and Asthma Attack

The link between asthma and cows' milk is familiar to many young asthma sufferers and their parents. Parents of young patient realize that from their experienced that severe asthma attacks happen when they introduce milk in their long term diet and are hostilities by asthma-related pneumonia.  The attack become less when they temporarily eliminating milk and milk products from their diet.

Professor Gary Null in his Complete Encyclopedia of Natural Healing, wrote

"In all respiratory conditions, mucous-forming dairy foods, such as milk and cheese, can exacerbate clogging of the lungs and should be avoided,"

Milk worsened patient asthma by stimulating mucus production in their lungs. when more mucus accumulates in the lungs than can be expelled out, asthma attacks develop. Belive by many medical doctors.
There is also another reason of why milk are link with asthma attack , it is because milk allergies itself are a very common causes of allergy that are link to upper-respiratory allergies which may cause asthma. Thus it is possible that undiagnosed milk allergies is another reason that cause asthma attack.

Allergy specialist Dr. James Braly in Bill Gottlieb's book Alternative Cures claims that

According to a study of 25 patients reported in Jean Carper's book, Food: Your Miracle Medicine, after following a milk- and meat-free diet for only four months, 71 percent of the patients experienced an improvement in their asthma symptoms. After a year, asthma improved in 92 percent of the patients.

On a larger scale, Dr. Joseph Pizzorno, President Emeritus of Bastyr University, found that 25 percent of respiratory patients experienced long-term improvement after following a vegan diet, a diet that contains no animal products ,dairy, eggs and meat

Why tomatoes at the market are tasteless than own grown tomatoes?

This question is asked by millions of people around the world who have noticed in recent years that tomatoes native to South America and is now grown on nearly every continent have now lost the old taste, to which we are accustomed to from childhood.  There are 2 reason for this.

Tomatoes Collage
Tomatoes have Antioxidant - zhuojing

More than 15 million tonnes of tomatoes are collected in the United States for one year. Farmers harvest tomatoes earlier than they turn red. In fact, for over 70 years, farmers have chosen a uniform green tomatoes before they are ripe.

The main reason for the lack of taste of tomatoes is an early collection of green tomatoes, irreparably affecting their quality. Ripening green tomatoes after harvesting is not equivalent to the ripen tomatoes in the garden which contain rich fructose and favour.

New research in this field  also has shown that the selection is based solely on the color and appearance of tomatoes led to the loss of genes responsible for the content of sugar and flavor, according to Science Magazine.

Scientists have identified a gene responsible for color called SIGLK2. Tomatoes whose gene SIGLK2, represents not only contain mutations chloroplasts less and less sugar.

By introducing an identical gene tomatoes, scientists were able to increase by about 40% glucose and fructose. The levels of lycopene, an antioxidant, it is extremely beneficial to the health of the body, also rose.

However, some scientists are not sure that this is a genetic intervention will improve the flavor of tomatoes. Increased sugar content in plants can lead to changes in other parts of the plant (e.g., about 80% sugar, tomato actually produced in the leaves that are later transformed into fruit).

The main reason for the lack of taste of tomatoes  in the first place is the practice of  early collection of green tomatoes, irreparably affecting their quality and taste

Walnuts a Must have in your daily diet.

Nut such as peanuts, pistachios ,almonds, walnuts or any variety of nuts are know to contains many nutrients that are needed for the human body and of all the kind of nuts. Scientist recommend walnuts first hand as a must to include food in your daily diet.  After their latest study by John Vinson, an employee Skrentonskogo University during his studies analyzed the level of antioxidants in the 9 kinds of nuts. As a result, he found that it handful of walnuts about 2 times greater than the same amount of any other species.  Making Walnut the most riches antioxidants in Nut and significantly higher than others. It is also almost twice as many antioxidant polyphenols as almonds, peanuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, cashews, macadamias, Brazil nuts, and pecans .

Walnut, Rank top on the source of antioxidants in nut

According to a preliminary study, we can significantly reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes and heart. Nut such as the walnut also contain healthful polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats that lower deadly artery-clogging small dense oxidized LDL cholesterol making it the essential antioxidants necessary to ward off cardiovascular disease

The researchers also reported that the antioxidants that make up the walnuts have an even greater effect - from 2 to 15 times than vitamin E.  As you know, Vitamin E is well known for its ability to promote cardiovascular health by lowering dangerous levels of small dense LDL cholesterol particles.

Researchers at Marshall University in the US also found that a daily dose eating about two small handfuls of walnuts everyday may "significantly" curb your risks of the breast cancer disease and also slow its growth The study is published in the journal Nutrition and Cancer

The analysis also found that it is important to eat walnuts in their raw and natural form, as heating or roasting degrades the antioxidant properties of the nut.

Chagas Diseases the "New Endemic AIDS" of America

Scientific publication PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases called Chagas' new  Endemic AIDS of the Americas.  A team from the Baylor College of Medicine, which studies tropical diseases, believe that The spread of the life-threatening illness disease are similar to the way how HIV spread. The disease can be spread through blood transfusion and organ transplantation, ingestion of food contaminated with parasites, and from a mother to her fetus.

Found only in Latin America, where it causes more deaths than any other parasitic disease, including Malaria .Chagas disease are caused by a parasite that is transmitted to humans by the bite of insects.

Carlos Chagas, in his laboratory at the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz

Chagas disease is named after the Brazilian physician Carlos Chagas (picture), who discovered the disease in 1909. It is caused by the parasite, the Triatomine bug or Trypanosoma cruzi, which is transmitted to animals and people by insect vectors and is found only in the Americas (mainly, in rural areas of Latin America where poverty is widespread). Chagas disease (T. cruzi infection) is also referred to as American trypanosomiasis.

Chagas disease is endemic throughout much of occurs of  Latin America and so far had infected 10 million people, mostly residents of Bolivia, Mexico, Colombia and Central America. The triatomine bug thrives under poor housing conditions (for example, mud walls, thatched roofs), so in endemic countries, people living in rural areas are at greatest risk for acquiring infection. However, in the past decades it has been increasingly detected in the United States of America, Canada, many European and some Western Pacific countries. This is due mainly to population mobility between Latin America and the rest of the world. Less frequently, it is due to infection through blood transfusion, vertical transmission (from infected mother to child) or organ donation.

This has caused great alarm to many countries , This include in the United States, Chagas disease is considered one of the dangerous Neglected Parasitic Infections,  Its now a group of five parasitic diseases that have been targeted by CDC for public health action.

Various triatomine bugs in all life stages, from eggs to nymphs to fully grown adults. A variety of bug species, that share similar traits, are pictured. CDC estimates that more than 300,000 persons with Trypanosoma cruzi infection live in the United States. Most people with Chagas disease in the United States acquired their infections in endemic countries. Although there are triatomine bugs in the U.S. , only rare vectorborne cases of Chagas disease have been documented.

Roughly a quarter of the victims heart or intestines gradually grow abnormally by the diseases, which can lead to sudden death.   There is no vaccine for Chagas disease. Existing drugs are only effective at the early stage of the disease.

Signs and symptoms

Chagas disease presents itself in two phases. The initial, acute phase lasts for about two months after infection. During the acute phase, a high number of parasites circulate in the blood. In most cases, symptoms are absent or mild, but can include fever, headache, enlarged lymph glands, pallor, muscle pain, difficulty in breathing, swelling and abdominal or chest pain. In less than 50% of people bitten by a triatomine bug, characteristic first visible signs can be a skin lesion or a purplish swelling of the lids of one eye.

During the chronic phase, the parasites are hidden mainly in the heart and digestive muscle. Up to 30% of patients suffer from cardiac disorders and up to 10% suffer from digestive (typically enlargement of the oesophagus or colon), neurological or mixed alterations. In later years the infection can lead to sudden death or heart failure caused by progressive destruction of the heart muscle.

Please do not touch or squash the bug. Place a container on top of the bug, slide the bug inside, and fill it with rubbing alcohol or, if not available, freeze the bug in the container. Then, you may take it to your local extension service, health department, or a university laboratory for species identification. In the event that none of these resources is available in your area, you may contact CDC’s Division of Parasitic Diseases and Malaria (parasites@cdc.gov) for species identification or T. cruzi testing.

Any material containing bug parts or feces should also be submitted for testing, preferably in a plastic bag or clean sealable container. Surfaces that have come into contact with the bug should be cleaned with a solution made of 1 part bleach to 9 parts water (or 7 parts ethanol to 3 parts water)

How can I tell if the bug I’ve found is a triatomine and not another kind of bug?

There are many beetles and non-triatomine reduviid bugs that resemble the triatomine bug. Two examples of non-triatomine reduviid bugs that do not feed on human blood are the wheel bug and the assassin bug. Some plant-feeding bugs, such as Coreidae, also resemble the triatomine. If you are unsure if the bug you’ve found is a triatomine, you may wish to consult with an expert, such as an entomologist, for clarification.

Can I get Chagas disease from a triatomine bug?

Yes. However, the transmission of Chagas disease from a bug to a human is not easy. The parasite that causes the disease is in the bug feces. The bug generally defecates on or near a person while it is feeding on his or her blood, generally when the person is sleeping. Transmission occurs when fecal material gets rubbed into the bite wound or into a mucous membrane (for example, the eye or mouth), and the parasite enters the body.
It is important to note that not all triatomine bugs are infected with the parasite that causes Chagas disease. The likelihood of getting Chagas disease from a triatomine bug in the United States is low, even if the bug is infected.

Could I be allergic to the bite of a triatomine bug?

A girl with Romaña's Sign

Romaña's sign, the swelling of the child's eyelid, is a marker of acute Chagas disease. The swelling is due to bug feces being accidentally rubbed into the eye, or because the bite wound was on the same side of the child's face as the swelling. Photo courtesy of WHO/TDR.

Yes. The saliva of certain types of triatomines can cause an allergic reaction in some people. An allergic reaction may be characterized by severe redness, itching, swelling, welts, hives, or, rarely, anaphylactic shock (severe allergic reaction). Persons at risk of anaphylactic shock should consult a physician to obtain medication to use in case of a bite. It is important to note that not all triatomines are infected with the parasite even though they may cause an allergic reaction.

The appearance of an allergic reaction after a triatomine bite does not mean that you have been infected with the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, the cause of Chagas disease. The mild swelling that may develop at the site of parasite inoculation (where the parasite entered the body through the skin or mucous membranes) is called a chagoma. When the parasite enters the body through the conjunctiva of the eye, the swelling around the eye is called Romaña’s sign. Chagomas, including Romaña’s sign, usually last longer than an allergic reaction and are less likely to be severely itchy.

What do I do if I think I may have acquired Chagas disease?

If you suspect you have Chagas disease, consult your health care provider. Or, to find a physician familiar with diagnosis and treatment of Chagas disease and other parasitic infections, ask your general practitioner or primary care physician for a referral. You may wish to consider visiting a physician who specializes in infectious diseases. To locate a clinician in your area, please visit the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene’s Clinical Consultants DirectoryExternal Web Site Icon.

Letter From A Swedish Professor Nominating Edward Snowden For The Nobel Peace Prize

A Swedish sociology professor named Stefan Svallfors has nominated NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden for a Nobel Peace Prize.

In a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee that was also published in Swedish newspaper Västerbottens-Kuriren, Svallfors said that Snowden had "helped to make the world a little bit better and safer."

Here's the nomination letter, as translated by the Daily Mail:

Best committee members!

I suggest that the 2013 Peace Prize awarded to the American citizen Edward Snowden.
Edward Snowden has - in a heroic effort at great personal cost - revealed the existence and extent of the surveillance, the U.S. government devotes electronic communications worldwide. By putting light on this monitoring program - conducted in contravention of national laws and international agreements - Edward Snowden has helped to make the world a little bit better and safer.

Through his personal efforts, he has also shown that individuals can stand up for fundamental rights and freedoms. This example is important because since the Nuremberg trials in 1945 has been clear that the slogan "I was just following orders" is never claimed as an excuse for acts contrary to human rights and freedoms. Despite this, it is very rare that individual citizens having the insight of their personal responsibility and courage Edward Snowden shown in his revelation of the American surveillance program. For this reason, he is a highly affordable candidate.

The decision to award the 2013 prize to Edward Snowden would - in addition to being well justified in itself - also help to save the Nobel Peace Prize from the disrepute that incurred by the hasty and ill-conceived decision to award U.S. President Barack Obama 2009 award. It would show its willingness to stand up in defense of civil liberties and human rights, even when such a defense be viewed with disfavour by the world's dominant military power.

Sincerely,
Stefan Svallfors
Professor of Sociology at Umeå University

As Svallfors is a professor at Umeå University, he is entitled to nominate candidates for the prize.

Nobel Peace Prize website says the committee may sometimes add nominations to the list if the shortlist has not yet been finalized.

Five Important Recommendation that can Help to Prevent Cancer

People who  had observe more than four of the recommendations  by WCRF  were found to be at risk of the disease were 38 percent less than those who comply less than the four recommendation. These conclusions are based on statistical studies of men who are predisposed to the disease. The research published online in the journal Nutrition and Cancer was conducted in North Carolina Cancer Center are based on the treatment of prostate cancer.  The study include 2212 men aged 40 to 70 years who are newly diagnosed with cancer.

Scientists from the University of California Comprehensive Cancer Center published the first study based and in compliance with the recommendations WCRF (World Cancer Research Fund - World Wide Fund for Research on Cancer). It has shown that with the right lifestyle, risk of prostate cancer is much less. The researchers also advise to adhere to the desired body mass index, physical activity, exercise, eating foods with a low caloric density (up to 125 kcal per 100 g food), fruits and vegetables are low in starch and beans.

5 important guidelines for the prevention of cancer:

1) Watch your weight. Studies have shown that overweight and obesity increase the risk of bowel cancer or breast cancer. Need to maintain a healthy weight through special diets and physical activity.

2) Be physically active for at least thirty minutes a day. Physical activity reduces the risk of cancer. Is any kind of physical activity, and the more the better. This requires a schedule of daily life and include physical exercises.

3) Limit consumption of energy-dense foods (foods high in fat and / or sugar, foods that are low in fiber) and avoid sugary drinks. The most dangerous food is hamburgers, fried chicken, pizza, fast food, candy bars and cookies. They can contain a lot of harmful substances, and excessive use may seriously affect health.

Sweet drinks such as cola or canned fruit juices can also affect weight. Thus should be discarded in favor of water, tea or coffee.

However, not all high-calorie foods can harm your health. Nuts, seeds and vegetable oils carry a higher energy value, are essential components of a healthy diet and can not affect weight.

4) Limit consumption of red meats (such as beef, pork or lamb) and avoid eating processed meat products. There is good evidence that red and processed meats can cause colon cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Of processed meats should be avoided completely, because it harms the body in any quantity. Just do not abuse the bacon, ham, salami, corned beef, and the types of sausage.

5) Limit the intake of foods processed with sodium chloride. Experience shows that salt can cause stomach cancer and autoimmune disease. For a change of taste gamut daily meals you can try to use herbs or spices. It must be remembered that the food products, including bread and breakfast cereals may contain a significant amount of salt.

Memories of loved ones as Motivation and to help relieve stress

moldovenii.md

Family photos on the desktop to help you motivate and beat stress, according to psychologists at Cornell University (USA). The results of their research scientists published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. It turned out that the memories of loved ones help to quickly deal with unpleasant thoughts and generally make a person less susceptible to negative. A month after the experiment, those who looked at photos of loved ones, have fewer problems with the psychological and physical well-being.

Previously, it was shown that these thoughts help to relieve the stress caused by external factors. But we ourselves can be a great source of stress for ourselves: we remember a lot of unpleasant things - from failure to failure in examinations on the love front. Constant return to unpleasant memories is fraught with the development of depression, anxiety disorders, all of which ultimately affects the physical well-being, causing heart problems, etc.

To prevent this from happening, the authors recommend exercise in pleasant memories, not just enjoyable, but in those that are left of mental communication with another person, which are reminiscent of friendship, love and harmony. It is natural that such moments are primarily concerned with the immediate family and your loved one (of course, this is not taken into account the exceptional cases of severe family confrontations and mutual hatred after decades of marriage).

Those picture will also fire up your spirit and motivate you when the going get tough.

The truth about the impact of fast food on children's health

Modern doctors are sounding the alarm - in fast food restaurants there are too many small children. Their parents are very fond of burgers, grilled sausages and other food, believing that it is well suited to kids as tasty and nutritious. However, from the point of view of children's food, these dishes should be banned at least until the school when the enzyme system of the liver and pancreas will be more or less able to digest them.

What's wrong with the so-called fast food?

1. These products are too fat, and they have a lot of carbohydrates, it's an excessive amount of calories and the risk of obesity. Furthermore, this diet is almost no fiber, and hence it stagnates in the intestine and roams rots there causes bloating, discomfort in the stomach contributes constipation. This leads to anemia and immunosuppression. Gradually, due to overexertion of the pancreas will cause pancreatitis and diabetes.

2. Ruddy crust on a bun, baked on a cutlet or meat - are potential carcinogens.

3. In such food often contains a special ingredient - flavor enhancers, they stimulate the receptor language and give the dish a distinct taste and appeal. The most commonly used sodium glutamate - after regular food seems tasteless, it causes the formation of dependence and impact on health - causes gastritis or colitis.

4. Flavorings and preservatives, which are abound in fast foods, as well as dyes, especially in soda can cause a change in the children's immune system - they are allergic. Because these products can create problems with stool, abdominal pain and disorders of the nervous system - making the children become excitable.

5. Fast food are heat-treated products, and thus they are practically no vitamins remains, the body will suffer from the disadvantages. Furthermore, these products with lack . litter minerals are poorly diet for children to absorbed - especially calcium, which is essential for growth of the skeleton.

6. In the series products of "fast food" is usually contain cheapest raw materials (sausages, mayonnaise, ketchup, sausage, canned mushrooms, etc.), which is for adults, it is not useful. In addition, many of these components must and need be handle with  strict compliance with the rules of storage as it is easy to spoil and bacterialise, which can easily result in food poisoning, especially dangerous of which are salmonellosis and dysentery.

7. And one more argument against these products will be that they are usually seasoned with spicy, fatty or spicy sauces - mayonnaise, mustard or ketchup with different additives that irritate the digestion child, can cause heartburn, nausea. In addition, mayonnaise - it's a great breeding ground for pathogenic microbes.

8.Most fast food use deep fried and frying techniques to cooked food. Introduction to oily and fatty food  ay young age are bad for your health and your children as frequent consummation can cause the fat to build up and wreak havoc and a person health and development. Not to mention it can also lead to obesity and high health risk.

Lack of sleep can lead to anxiety, according to a U.S. study that highlights the special relationship between sleep and emotional hyperactivity disorder, according to lefigaro.fr. Lack of sleep contributes to the emergence of anxiety.

How much do we need sleep to be healthy?

Several studies presented in June at the congress organized by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, analyzed the mechanisms by which a lack of sleep affects the body's level of anxiety.

This anxiety is not necessarily negative, however, it helps to prepare for dangerous situations. This is a survival mechanism. But when it is amplified and converted into hyperactivity, it becomes negative, and is characterized by severe stress and anxiety.

The problem of lack of sleep is not limited to the United States, it has become one of the public health problem in Europe. Although the French are far from the American record, they sleep an average of 6 hours, and 45 minutes, compared to 6 hours for the Americans, the "quota" of sleep is inadequate in terms of average daily requirement of sleep, it is estimated that 7 to 8 hours

Dan Black paralyzed man raised $30k to help him walk again...then gave it all away to help a 5 year-old take HIS first steps

Four years ago, Dan Black was paralysed in a cycling accident after been knocked off his bike by a car in 2009, as he cycled to work .He broke a vertebrae which left him paralysed from the chest down. He also suffered a stroke as he recovered in hospital, which left him without the use of his right arm.

Ever since, he has been raising money for pioneering stem cell treatment which could one day help him walk again.

But now, after collecting £20,000, the 25-year-old has given it all away – so a little boy can learn to walk instead.

Mr Black abandoned his own dream after hearing about five-year-old Brecon Vaughan, who lives near him just outside Chepstow, in South Wales.

Dan Black (right) has given up his dream of walking again to help five-year-old Brecon Vaughan (left) take his first unaided steps

Brecon was born with rare spastic diplegia cerebral palsy which causes stiffness in his legs, poor balance and coordination.

He has to use a walking frame to get around, and his family are desperately trying to raise £60,000 for an operation in America to help him walk unaided for the first time.

Mr Black, who is wheelchair-bound, said he made the extraordinary gesture because Brecon had a better chance of walking than he does.

‘I know for me that things aren’t going to get better any time soon,’ he said. ‘I just wanted to do something that could help someone whose life could get better.

‘Brecon can definitely walk if he has the surgery. I wouldn’t wish being paralysed on anyone, so if I can help someone walk, I will.’

He continued: ‘While there is hope for Brecon, I will do everything I can, because I don’t want to see a young boy suffer.

‘I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped me out but this boy needs it more than I do at the moment.

‘It would make me very happy to see the difference made to Brecon’s life. I just hope when I give the money it encourages others to [give].’

Tips How to Replace Salt in Cooking

This is a 5 simple ways to use less salt in cooking for your good health and to help you cut back on sodium when cooking or at the table

Sodium chloride (salt) is essential to the body. The sodium in salt helps transmit nerve impulses and contract muscle fibers. Working with potassium, it balances fluid levels in in the body. But you only need a tiny amount of salt to do this, less than one-tenth of a teaspoon. The average American gets nearly 20 times that much.

The body can generally rid itself of excess sodium. In some people, though, consuming extra sodium makes the body hold onto water. This increases the amount of fluid flowing through blood vessels, which can increase blood pressure.

Most of the salt that Americans consume comes from prepared and processed foods. The leading culprits include snack foods, sandwich meats, smoked and cured meat, canned juices, canned and dry soups, pizza and other fast foods, and many condiments, relishes, and sauces — for starters. But enough comes from the salt shaker that it’s worth finding alternatives. Here are 5 ways to cut back on sodium when cooking or at the table:
  • Use spices and other flavor enhancers. Add flavor to your favorite dishes with spices, dried and fresh herbs, roots (such as garlic and ginger), citrus, vinegars, and wine. From black pepper, cinnamon, and turmeric to fresh basil, chili peppers, and lemon juice, these flavor enhancers create excitement for the palate — and with less sodium.
  • Go nuts for healthy fats in the kitchen. Using the right healthy fats — from roasted nuts and avocados to olive, canola, soybean, and other oils — can add a rich flavor to foods, minus the salt.

  • Sear, sauté, and roast. Searing and sautéing foods in a pan builds flavor. Roasting brings out the natural sweetness of many vegetables and the taste of fish and chicken. If you do steam or microwave food, perk up these dishes with a finishing drizzle of flavorful oil and a squeeze of citrus.

  • Get your whole grains from sources other than bread. Even whole-grain bread, while a healthier choice than white, can contain considerable sodium. And bread contains salt, not just for flavor but to ensure that the dough rises properly. You can skip that extra salt when you use whole grains outside of baking. Try a Mediterranean-inspired whole-grain salad with chopped vegetables, nuts, and legumes, perhaps a small amount of cheese, herbs and spices, and healthy oils and vinegar or citrus. For breakfast, cook up steel-cut oats, farro, or other intact whole grains with fresh or dried fruit, and you can skip the toast (and the extra sodium).

  • Know your seasons, and, even better, your local farmer. Shop for raw ingredients with maximum natural flavor, thereby avoiding the need to add as much (if any) sodium. Shop for peak-of-season produce from farmers’ markets and your local supermarket.
