Natural Remedy: 7 Natural remedies Plants That Repel Mosquitoesto

Before we continued first we need to know this information first

How does mosquitoes detect  human or animal for victims?
Through our body heat and also from the presence of Carbon Dioxide, CO2 or Carbon Dioxide. It is the human respiratory gases emitted and other warm-blooded animals after inhaling fresh air. Mosquitoes are attracted to the gas and any gas that are crack and hole in you home will course the mosquito to zooming on you house like missile. It can fly as far as 1.5 km to find a source of CO2.

Using natural remedies such as plants to deter and keep mosquitoes away from both your home and your skin is an all-natural and safe alternative to using man-made products that contain chemicals.  It is know that most commercial repellant sprays  from supermarket mostly use diethyl-meta-toluamide (DEET) a nasty harmful chemicals that causes rashes, swelling, eye irritation. Worse problems that are prone to children and users that can cause anaphylactic shock, low blood pressure. and for sure I do not like drugs (smoke or liquid) that can interfere with breathing and can cause disease. I also do not like to use Insecticide because there are many cases of cancer, brain damage, leukemia, lymphoma and disability newborn child as a result of it 2 .

There are a number of plants you can add to your garden and yard to naturally repel mosquitoes, and in some cases, you can even crush or rub plants on your skin to keep mosquitoes away. Plants that are commonly used to repel mosquitoes are citronella, marigolds, catnip, horse mint, and ageratum, in addition to several others. Continue reading this article to learn about the many ways in which plants can be used to keep mosquitoes away from your living environment

Plant That You Can Grow to That Repel Mosquitoes

1.Grow citronella ( Citronella winterianus or Cybopogon nardusa)  in your garden or yard. Citronella Herbs also commonly know as lemongrass  as seen in the picture grow in a grassy clumps. It masks the surrounding scents ( the CO2 gas)  around your home and garden that attract mosquitoes, preventing them from coming too near.

It also a good alternative to grow in park. If if you live in cold and freezing climates. you can also plant it in a container so you can moved it a round and also provide a good alternative to clean the air and provide oxygen.

2.Place marigold plants on the border of your lawn or garden. The smell that marigolds emit will prevent mosquitoes from entering a specific area, functioning similar to a border. Marigolds need to be grow in areas or pots with fertilized soil that can be exposed to full sunlight at all times.

3.Grow catnip in your yard ; it a Mint plant that grew purplish flower. You will love the plant if you have cat. however, neighborhood cats and your pet cats may be attracted to the catnip. since it course them to be active and funny and roll over the place (in your yard)

PS:Europeans in the 1400s regularly drank teas made from catnip, with the herb earning a medicinal application for treatment of colic and flatulence. Nepeta cataria is a member of the mint family, with tea brewed that possesses a flavor and smell similar to mint tea.

Smoking catnip became popular as an alternative to marijuana in the 1960s. When the herb is smoked, it produces a low level, legal high complete with audio/visual hallucinations and a relaxed feeling at a fraction of the cost. Concentrated doses of Nepeta cataria brewed as a tea can also produce a mild, short-term sedative effect in humans.

While catnip serves no real purpose other than allowing an owner to watch his or her cat go bonkers, there is no evidence that causes harms to cats either.

4.Grow herbs that repel mosquitoes. In addition to having the ability to eat them, herbs such as 5.rosemary, 6.basil, and 7.garlic will naturally keep mosquitoes away.

8 My best remedies and favorite Oil Essential oils of aromatherapy  oil from the store or supermarket

Oil Eucaplyptus (White Wood) or Peppermint Oil  just add 6 drop in a small cut of warm water and stir then apply to skin... or use strip of cloth and drop a few drop on the cloth and tied it around you bed room and re apply the oil each morning to the strip ( works 7 to 8 hour )

  REMEMBER::

Just because chemicals such as essential oils (terpenoids like citronella) can be sourced from plants, it does not entail that 'natural' products are entirely harmless or risk-free. People can be allergic to species of plant and they have been rare case of allergic to lemongrass oil that course rashes ( Plant remedies that involve rubbing to your skin might not be good alternative for those who has allergic to perfume as most of the plant mention here are widely use in the perfume industry even thou it only occur to 2 out of 20 person with allergic to perfume 1 )

You should test any oils on a small patch of skin before applying them-some people can be allergic or develop skin irritations.

And one more thing to remember don't wear home made remedies  near flower field or any area that has a lot of bees ..Research has shown geraniol (  It is the primary part of rose oil, palmarosa oil, and citronella oil) to be an effective plant-based mosquito repellent. On the other hand, it can attract bees as it is produced by the scent glands of honey bees to help them mark nectar-bearing flowers and locate the entrances to their hives. So if you don't want to be the swarm pls dont use them at the meadow.
