In fact, it is a coronal hole, that is a "cold" area in the star's atmosphere. But beyond the aesthetics of the images taken in X-rays, coronal holes of the Sun cause the loss of matter and, therefore, a very strong solar winds, streams of particles that travel throughout the solar system and the "attack" our planet.
